The Gods who live millions of aeons

In the Buddhist tradition, both in Theravada and Mahayana Buddhism, we have a belief that there are thirty one planes of existence. Below the human plane are the four woeful abodes. Hell is one of the woeful abodes. Above us are six planes of deva lokas (or worlds).

Above the six planes of deva lokas are the twenty planes of Brahma gods. These are the gods who live in the blissful states of being.

The Buddhist teachings say that they live countless aeons of lives meditation on the four thoughts:
a) loving-kindness
b) compassion
c) sympathetic joy
d) equanimity

In the original Pali language (which is the language of the Buddhist scriptures) these four thoughts are called:

a) Metta = loving-kindness
b) Karuna = compassion
c) Mudita = sympathetic joy
d) Upekka = equanimity

We human beings can also live blissful lives if we do the same type of meditation.

Just a thought!!
