It is important to know how valuable each day is. One day (I don't remember when it was, sorry), I was looking around in the shopping mall for some blank cards. One of the cards I found struck me.
It said, "make every day a miracle". What a wonderful thought it was.
Sometimes we go through life without realizing how valuable each day is.
So I made up this promise to myself now that I am 64.
1. To make every day a miracle.
2. To help someone if possible.
3. To read a good book that will uplift my spirit.
4. To do something that will have a small impact for Myanmar.

How to live a happy and healthy life
When you finally reach the age of 60 and are about to retire, you need to really take stock of your life and ask yourself this question. When I die, what kind of legacy do I wish to leave behind.
It is not to say that I have finally reached the age of 60. Far from that, I am now 64. I celebrated my birthday last May in 2009 and became the ripe old age of 64.
There is one advice I wish to give my friends, far and near. That is never answer the question, "How old are you". If someone asks you that question, you have to say politely "does that mean that you have presumed that I am old already?"
The real truth of the matter is this. It is not what your age is that matters. It is what you have done every day of your life, that is the true test of whether you have lived a happy and healthy life.
So if someone asks you, "how old are you?", tell that someone politely, "will you please rephrase your question". If you ask me "what is your age?", I will certainly tell you. If you have already decided that I am an old man, then there is no point in continuing the conversation.
People are curious about a person's age. What is more important to know is how that person is feeling or how he or she is doing something good for society and for himself or herself.
Deepark Chopra used the word "mind body connection" to great effect. In Buddhist philosophy, especially in Abhidhamma, there is a lot of ground covered on how the mind works and how the mind has great influence on the body.
So the short answer to live a happy and healthy life is this.
Be happy and stay happy. Then the great feeling that permeates your mind will work wonders for your health.
In my opinium, because I follow the teachings of the Buddha, the best way to live a happy and healthy life is to follow the three step approach:
- good conduct
- good concentration
- knowledge and wisdom (search for)

Have time will travel
This is for the person who is really - "Young at heart". All life long you have waited for retirement. Now you have retired and have a "to do list" as long as maybe, ten yards. What would I like to do now that I am not working. One of the things you could do perhaps is travel. Yes, I agree but traveling is no fun if you have to do it alone or if you find yourself with a group of people that you don't particularly like.
I have the answer for you. What not join "DreamTrips". Yes, this is all about travel and you get good prices and good companions.
Here is the link to my travel website:
http://www.ayezay.worldventures.biz
The reason I am recommending this "DreamTrips" is because the price is right (a one time payment of $ 200 and a monthly payment of about 20 dollars) . You do not have to believe what I say. Check it out yourself and you will understand what I mean.
If you have any questions about this unique online travel club send me an email at:

The Gods who live millions of aeons
In the Buddhist tradition, both in Theravada and Mahayana Buddhism, we have a belief that there are thirty one planes of existence. Below the human plane are the four woeful abodes. Hell is one of the woeful abodes. Above us are six planes of deva lokas (or worlds).
Above the six planes of deva lokas are the twenty planes of Brahma gods. These are the gods who live in the blissful states of being.
The Buddhist teachings say that they live countless aeons of lives meditation on the four thoughts:
a) loving-kindness
b) compassion
c) sympathetic joy
d) equanimity
In the original Pali language (which is the language of the Buddhist scriptures) these four thoughts are called:
a) Metta = loving-kindness
b) Karuna = compassion
c) Mudita = sympathetic joy
d) Upekka = equanimity
We human beings can also live blissful lives if we do the same type of meditation.
Just a thought!!

Biological age and psychological age
There is a saying going around. "Age is just a number".
Really?
It is true, as we grow older, the signs of old age will truly show. There is no denying about that.
We all say "what can we do".
I would say, "well, a lot".
As Buddhists, all our elders and monks tell us that we cannot escape "old age, pain and death". How true this is.
But think for a moment, if we accept this fact or not, what will happen will happen. No one can deny that.
However there is one thing we can all do for sure. Now I am talking about people who are 50 years and older. We have no time to lose. That is why we need to make sure that "every day is a miracle". We need to make sure that we do not waste the time that we have on this earth.
Some Buddhists say, "try to get Kutho, or Pyinnya, or at least some material wealth every day".
As we grow older, we can certainly get Kutho - which in English means "good karma" or Pyinnya (Knowledge or Wisdom) every day without even having to spend a dime or a nickle.
To be "young at heart" is a state of mind. You are happy if your mind is in a happy frame of mind. When I was young, our scout master taught us that " a scout smiles and whistles under all difficulties". How true.
We may be over 50, or over 60 or whatever. If we feel young, that is what matters.
One day I was doing shopping at Whole Foods and spent a few minutes looking at the beautiful birthday cards, a cards that we send to wish good wishes like for those who are in the hospital or those who are passing through difficult times.
One little card struck me. It said:
"Age is mind over matter, if you don't mind, it doesn't matter".
"How true", I said to myself, smiled and walked away to continue my shopping.

Now why should we stay connected.
Here are the reasons.
- when we retire we leave the office environment and the network of friends at the office fade away over time.
- that is why we need to keep our former office friends and find a network of new friends to do fun things, like traveling, tennis, swimming, walking, shopping .... you get the drift.
Well, that is the reason I have started this YAH group.

Welcome to the YAH - a group for people who are "young at heart". It does not matter whether you are 50 plus, 60 plus or even more than that. As long as you are "young at heart" you will always be welcome in this group - YAH.
We say "Yah".
Yes we are the "Young at hearts".
Let us use the power of the internet to keep connected and enjoy life.
The best things in life are free, as they say.
Friendship is one of them. It is free and it is fun.
